Barcelona and Real Sociedad have reached an agreement for the transfer of young Catalan defender Hector Fort, according to Spanish media reports.
The 20-year-old right-back is set to join the Basque club for a fee of 8 million euros. Barcelona has also secured a significant 50% sell-on clause for any future transfer of the player, along with a buy-back option valued at 20 million euros.
Fort himself has reportedly given his verbal consent to move to Real Sociedad. Last season, the player was not part of Hansi Flick's plans and was initially loaned out to Elche at the start of the campaign.
There, he played only 623 minutes across all competitions due to a shoulder injury. Nevertheless, Fort managed to score 3 goals in 17 appearances, contributing to his team's survival. The young footballer made his debut for Barcelona in December 2023, accumulating a total of 30 matches and 3 assists for the Catalan senior squad.
Fort thus becomes another Barcelona academy product to depart the club this summer. Previously, the Catalans parted ways with Ansu Fati, Tommy Marques, Jofre Torrents, and Iñaki Peña.
