The Federal Government is currently awaiting a full report on the reasons for the detention of ex-Senator and Chairman, Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, Hassan Barata, in Saudi Arabia.
According to a report by The Punch, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokesman, Ahmedu Ogbole-Ode, disclosed that the government is yet to be briefed by the Nigerian embassy on the arrest and detention of the onetime guber aspirant in Adamawa State.
“We are waiting for a full report on the incident from Saudi Arabia; it’s when we get the report that we can decide the next step to take. I have made attempts to reach the embassy there, but the telephone network was bad and I couldn’t reach them,” Ogbole-Ode informed
The senator, who is believed to be holding an official passport, was expected to drop the document as he was no longer entitled to have it.
