He made the comment while speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

Lawal’s suspension was announced on Wednesday, April 19, by President Muhammadu Buhari via a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina.

According to the statement, Buhari ordered Lawal’s suspension pending the outcome of a probe into allegations of violations of law and due process leveled against him.

Lawal has been accused of misappropriating funds allocated for the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).

The Senate, on December 14, 2016, demanded Lawal’s resignation over the allegations.

Buhari however said that he could not sack the SGF because the Senate had not given him fair hearing.
