Making an appearance on Draymond Green's podcast, Avdija admitted he was so mesmerized by Nikola Jokić's passing that he plans to ask him how he pulls it off and get him to spill his secret.
"I have to ask him if he actually practices that kind of stuff. There's no way it just comes that naturally to him. Go stand in that corner during your next practice, try to make that pass, and tell me if it feels natural." — Deni Avdija
The Israeli forward of Serbian descent then elaborated on just how difficult it is to guard Jokić one-on-one.
"Every time I switch onto Jokić, I think: What the hell am I supposed to do? I'm strong, but this guy is powerful, smart, knows how to pass, and has those soft floaters from every angle." — Deni Avdija
Avdija captured it perfectly. And for anyone who—somehow—hasn't seen Jokić's incredible assist yet, take a look...
As a reminder, Jokić's no-look, behind-the-back dime, finished off with a corner three from Cam Johnson, even inspired Houston Rockets center Alperen Şengün to try recreating the masterpiece in practice. They might call him "Baby Jokić," but he couldn't quite replicate the magic.
