Atletico Madrid secured their most emphatic victory of the season so far, dismantling Osasuna 4-0 at the Metropolitano in a La Liga Matchday 6 fixture. New signing Jonathan David, brought in from Juventus, was once again on the scoresheet. The Canadian international opened the scoring in the 24th minute, making it 1-0, and then assisted Kang-In Lee for the second goal in the 54th minute.

This marks David's second goal in as many league appearances for Atletico, having also found the net against Real Sociedad just days prior. In doing so, David has matched a record set by Bulgarian legend Lyuboslav Penev, who also scored in his first two league matches for Atletico at the start of the 1995/96 season. That year, the "Rojiblancos" went on to win the title.

Diego Simeone's side delivered a superb performance, registering 27 shots, 11 of which were on target. In contrast, visitors Osasuna managed only one shot on target throughout the match.

Robin Le Normand extended Atletico's lead to 3-0 in the 63rd minute, with Alex Baena netting the final goal in the 82nd.

However, the clash in the Spanish capital could have taken a different turn. With Atletico leading 1-0, Osasuna had a goal by Iñigo Argibide disallowed in the 29th minute. The referees ruled that home defender Le Normand was fouled by Lucas Torró during an aerial challenge.

The Spanish capital is set to ignite at the end of the week (Sunday, 5:15 PM CET) as the Madrid derby between Atletico and Real Madrid takes center stage, once again at the Metropolitano.
