Manzambi impressed at the ongoing World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, tallying three goals and two assists in four matches. He subsequently suffered an injury, sidelining him for Switzerland's Round of 16 clash against Colombia (0-0, 4-3 on penalties) and their quarter-final defeat to Argentina (1-3 AET).

The talented 20-year-old midfielder has already faced his new employers, having been on the losing side with Freiburg against the Villans in the recent Europa League final in Istanbul (0-3).

“I am incredibly happy and excited to play for this team. It’s a big club in England, playing in the Champions League. I believe I will deliver similar performances to those at the World Cup or with Freiburg,” Manzambi was quoted by AFP.

Unai Emery's side is also reportedly close to securing a second midfield reinforcement following Youri Tielemans' departure to Manchester United.

Joao Gomes from Championship side Wolverhampton is expected to make the move to the Birmingham club.
