ANA announces its creative writing workshop
Known as the premier organization for writers in Nigeria, The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) announces its creative writing workshop for student writers and readers alike.
20 students from tertiary institutions in Nigeria, with the potential to be fine writers were selected from nearly a hundred entries received during the submissions window.
Sponsored by Yusuf Ali SAN, an eminent Nigerian lawyer and strong supporter of literature, the workshop will see a shift of emphasis from reading to writing.
The Workshop will be facilitated by Charles Akinsete, a lecturer at the Department of English, University of Ibadan. Charles, a journalist who teaches African American Literature, African Literature will facilitate the learning of the rudiments of fiction through a combination of talking, Power Point presentations and class work.
Richard Ali, the author of City of Memories and ANA publicity secretary told Pulse that: "the target of the workshop is to produce an Anthology of Creative Writing."
"The Workshop will hold in Abuja from the 23 to the 25 October at the Savannah Suites Resort in the Gwarinpa Estate."
He added that the workshop intends to encourage students to read more, write more and be more imaginative.
The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) represents Nigerian creative writers at home and abroad. It was founded in 1981 by the late Professor Chinua Achebe.
The current president is Hon. (Dr) Wale Okediran. The Association has branches in almost all the states in Nigeria.
