Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta lauded his team's performance following their dominant 3-0 victory over newly promoted Coventry in the opening round of the Premier League.

"An excellent performance – I liked many things about the lads' play. We totally dominated, there was incredible understanding on the pitch. We scored two wonderful goals before halftime. We had to manage the game and gave some players valuable minutes, so it turned out to be a really good match," Arteta commented.

"Coventry is a good opponent, excellently prepared. This team has a clear idea of how they want to cause you problems," added the Gunners' boss.

Arteta has become the fifth manager in Premier League history to achieve 150 wins in fewer than 250 matches. Last night's fixture marked his 249th game in charge of Arsenal in England's top flight. The record holder in this regard is Pep Guardiola, who secured his 150th victory as Manchester City manager in his 204th match.
