“La Nacion” also chose a photo of Fernandez and Messi for its front page, with the headline “Heroic Finalists.” The publication wrote: “Once again led by heart, in seven unforgettable minutes at the end, the team turned the game around to beat England 2-1.”

The front page of the Buenos Aires-based sports newspaper “Olé” again featured a celebrating Messi, with a headline playing on the phrase “Hand of God.” Another capital newspaper, “Herald,” called the players “brave hearts.”

In Spain, there also seemed to be satisfaction at the prospect of playing Argentina in the final. “Marca” ran with the front-page headline “The Most Beautiful End of the World.”
