António Salvador confirms Lukas Hornicek rejected Premier League offer

Lukas Hornicek has turned down an offer from the Premier League, opting to stay at SC Braga. The news was confirmed by club president António Salvador on Saturday in a statement to Sport TV during Braga Day, an event designed to bring the Braga community together, culminating in the team's presentation match against Celta de Vigo at 7:30 PM.

The president of the *Guerreiros do Minho* acknowledged that the club received a bid from an English club—Hull City—but Hornicek, who is under contract with SC Braga until 2028 and has a €30 million release clause, preferred to remain at the *Pedreira*.

Salvador also mentioned that the squad under Carlos Vicens is "90 percent complete," but did not rule out potential arrivals or departures, depending on market opportunities that may arise.

"In today's global football, we have to be prepared for anything. As long as the market is open, we must be ready for both departures and arrivals. I believe 90 percent of our squad is finalized, but we have to wait. Someone else might come in, just as someone might leave if an offer comes along that matches the player's quality and SC Braga's objectives. We've already had one, but the player himself, Hornicek, turned it down. There was an offer from England for him, for the Premier League, but the player felt he shouldn't go to that club, and we are pleased he is staying with us," admitted António Salvador in his statement to Sport TV.

António Salvador also praised the way Carlos Vicens has stamped his identity on the team: "When we hired Carlos Vicens, we knew what he could bring to our club. Today, SC Braga has its own clear identity, visible whether we're playing at home, away, or in Europe—an identity that enhances the team and the spectacle. We are starting the new season with more consolidated processes, which will help us deliver great performances and achieve more ambitious goals. SC Braga will go into every match to win. We know we won't always succeed, but we will do everything to be competitive in every game and fight with our opponents for the three points. That is a hallmark of SC Braga."
