Antonelli posted his quick lap on soft tires at the very end of the session, clocking 1:12.949 minutes. He edged out reigning world champion Lando Norris of McLaren by 0.121 seconds. George Russell, also with Mercedes, finished third, just 0.125 seconds behind his teammate.

The top six was rounded out by Lewis Hamilton in his Ferrari, Charles Leclerc in the other Scuderia car, and Oscar Piastri for McLaren.

The session began on a wet but drying track, with drivers quickly transitioning from intermediate tires to slicks. It soon became apparent that the medium compound tires offered sufficient grip and durability for longer stints.

The fastest driver from the two Red Bull-affiliated teams was Arvid Lindblad of Racing Bulls, who finished 10th, 1.336 seconds adrift of Antonelli. Max Verstappen, driving for Red Bull, followed immediately behind in 11th place.
