Another Comic Icon Bows Out

<strong>James Iroha</strong>, pioneer actor and comedian on Tuesday 28 Febuary 2012 passed on. His death was confirmed by his son, Akwari James Iroha on Facebook and the news was received with shock and great sadness. The actor, who passed on a few days ago, studied Drama at the University of Ibadan and started his career on radio with the programme, ‘In a lighter Mood’ where he proceeded to start the TV series ‘ New Masquerade’.  He went on to represent Nigeria in drama conventions globally and in 1981, he was conferred a national award, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by the president of the nation at the time, Alhaji Shehu Shagari.

His work has formed the backdrop for a lot of comic works that we enjoy today. Across borders, both online and print, everyone mourns the loss of a comic icon. There are no plans from his family yet as regards his burial but we pray for strength for them to bear the loss.
