Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), appeared before the court on Thursday, March 16.

Presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in giving the order, said that Yakubu should be remanded in Kuje Prison pending the determination of his bail application on March 21.

Yakubu was, on Thursday, charged with six counts of fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) due to the recovery of $9.8 million and £74, 000 from his house in Kaduna.

The sums of money were recovered from Yakubu’s property in the Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna on February 3, 2017.
