Brazil's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, reflected on his team's performance at the 2026 World Cup. The Seleção were eliminated in the Round of 16, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Norway.
“I believe we lost the World Cup during the water break against Norway. Up until that point, the team was in control of the game. Norway had a lot of possession in their own half and played similarly against England.
They controlled the game and could have won. Perhaps my mistake was thinking the team had lost control, which wasn't the case. I made a few changes to the lineup, and then we faced the problem of Erling Haaland's goal,” ESPN quoted Ancelotti as saying.
Bruno Guimarães missed a penalty in the 14th minute against Norway. Haaland scored his first goal in the 79th minute, followed by his second in the 90th. Neymar pulled one back in added time, but it was too late for the Seleção.
