Following backlash from fans for holding an African film event, AMAA nominations night, in Los Angeles, organisers have explained the reason behind their choice of venue.

Following the 11th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awardsundefinedon June 20, 2015, fans took to social media to question their choice of venue.

According to most of the Facebook commentators, the event should have held in an African country.

The organisers also took to Facebook to reply and explain the reason for their choice of venue.

"The reason for the Africa movie Academy Awards is only doing its in LA to leverage the work its done on African Cinema .

The awards will hold in Africa as usual and the venue will announced tonight stay tuned." - AMAA replied.
