Julian Alvarez's agent has issued a statement, likely in response to comments from Atletico Madrid's management regarding the Argentine forward's desire to join Barcelona.
Yesterday, the Madrid club's CEO, Miguel Angel Gil, stated: "We must understand that in recent months, Julian has not received the best advice regarding his professional career."
"Never ask a liar why they lied. To explain, they would have to lie again," Fernando Hidalgo posted on Instagram.
According to the latest reports, Atletico is prepared to sell Alvarez to Arsenal but has no intention of letting him move to Barcelona.
The forward did not feature in the opening La Liga match against Malaga, which Atletico won 2-0.
Atletico's management remains adamant that Alvarez will stay with the team unless a club is willing to meet his €490 million release clause.
