Alvarez finds his scoring boots in La Liga as Atletico close the gap on Barca

Atletico Madrid secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna to move within two points of La Liga leaders Barcelona ahead of tomorrow's El Clasico. Julian Alvarez scored the only goal of the game in the 48th minute to seal all three points for Los Colchoneros against their Galician opponents.

The Argentine forward found the net for the second consecutive match, having also earned his side a draw against Stuttgart in the Champions League in midweek. Alvarez had been enduring an eight-month league goal drought, but made no mistake today as he timed his run perfectly to convert a low cross from Alejandro Grimaldo.
