The 25-year-old - drafted by the Chiefs as a third-round pick in 2011 - has played all nine games this season, recording 27 tackles, four sacks and seven pressures.

"We are happy that we were able to reach an agreement to keep Allen in Kansas City," Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said in a statement.

"He has developed into a good football player and a key member of our defense."

The Chiefs are in the midst of a four-game winning streak and boast a 6-3 win-loss record so far in the American Football Conference (AFC) West division.
