Musa was in the early hours of Wednesday, April 5 arrested by Leicestershire Police at his residence and was questioned on suspicion of hitting his wife, Jamila.

The Leicester City forward was eventually released without any charge.

President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick has spoken to the player and assured Nigerians that reports of him battering his wife are false.

“I'm in touch with Ahmed Musa, Reports of wife battering are false. Musa remains a responsible family man & player," Pinnick is quoted to say by the official Twitter account of the Super Eagles.

"Ahmed Musa is also very committed to seeing that we realise our dreams of making it to Russia 2018 World Cup.”

Musa recently quit as the assistant captain of the Super Eaglesplayed a 1-1 draw with Senegal in a friendly game.

Musa and his wife Jamila have been married for several years and have two kids, their son born in 2013 and their daughter born in August 2015.
