After Selling Key Players and Sparking Doubts, Newcastle Owners Announce Multi-Million Euro Investment
According to the Associated Press, the owners aim to signal their continued commitment to the club, despite player departures during the transfer window.
In recent times, doubts have grown regarding the engagement of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund that acquired Newcastle in 2021.
Alexander Isak left the club last year, and this summer saw the departures of Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon, and Sandro Tonali. Newcastle is also striving to comply with stricter English football financial regulations.
The PIF has also announced its intention to streamline its sports portfolio, including withdrawing financial support for the LIV Golf series.
"This project represents a significant long-term investment by owners PIF and RB Sports & Media into the future of the club," Newcastle United stated in their announcement.
The Magpies' CEO, David Hopkinson, hailed the project as a "milestone in the club's history." The training center is slated for construction near the city airport. The club plans to build what it describes as a "world-class training complex" on the site.
