'Courage over Discouragement' by Uchenna Egbo

And so I thought of giving up,

Having gained little from my effort.

Courage did less to make me up,

All I felt like was as an isolated maggot.

The present waged war against the future,

And it had nothing good from the past.

Internal war is one of the crisis of nature;

So I contended with a resolve to be ardent;

Ardent about my singular desire to win.

Victory was in no means near my struggles

And defeat was pushing me to give in.

Alone I was left with my thoughts to battle

As boredom became a reliable buddy.

The clever birds whistled little by little,

In a fabulous effort to make me merry.

Soon there was a beep from my phone.

I was very indifferent to check through…

Asap came another ring  from my phone

My defiant nature found a breakthrough.

It was a text of desire and admiration

A text of love and that of commendation.

An invaluable call for a role model

I soon retired to my room in the hotel

To give another shape to my worries.

Where I saw weakness, they saw strength;

Where I lost belief, they gathered faith.

I lost route, and they followed confidently

I stood to speak and they listened raptly.

Willing to be a subject but they said leader;

Scared of fame, but they pushed me farther

They gave credence to my dying hope

So that I can eventually cope.

I kneel before you Lord to pray;

But I found nothing to say.

Words are myriads but prove costly

So what to say, I chose carefully.

Forgive me for disbelieving myself

And make me industrious as Jean wyclef.

What a colossal irony that seems to be,

But I reserve the decision to you exclusively.

Doubt had made me notorious to slack

But this faith has taken away my lack.

I’ve regained self belief, a worthy note!

I’ve found my confidence, a worthy note!

I’m a made role model, a worthy note!

I’ll live for the truth, a very worthy note!

I’ll crusade for love, peace and the truth

My past is laid to rest; I’m in total health.
