Gold has been in the lead since its release, with torrents of positive reviews drowning out the sound of the negative and powering it to the Billboard World Album Chart.

Kicking off two hours later than the advertised time, guests were ushered into a hall decorated with the theme colours. Gold case copies of the album were on display for purchase, and the accompanying album paintings took a position of prominence at the waiting area for guests who mingled and transacted business.

Soon, things kicked off, with OAP and YBNL hype man – Dotun – commanding proceedings. Light banter, some recognition of distinguished guests thrown in, and some attempt at humor, warmed the stage up for Ric Hassani, who was the first performer of the night.

He proceeded to perform his buzzing single ‘Gentleman’, before passing the baton to Byno. The singer made an exhilarating medley of pop hits. He threw in a twist of Rihanna’s ‘Work’, before Alicia Keys had her ‘In common’ hit dragged in for a mellow closing. Aramide and TJan continued the good work, prepping everyone for the main attraction.

Adekunle Gold was resplendent, emerging to a crescendo of noise and thanking everyone for the support and the time. His was a masterful performance, opening the album with the eponymous song ‘Gold’. Others followed including the popular ‘Sade’.

A break was called, and The Voice TV show favorite, Chike, was called upon, followed by Simi. Simi was responsible for mixing and mastering 15 songs off the 16-track album. Her performance was a medley of her hits, but she was to duet with Adekunle Gold on the album favorite ‘No forget’. Things were wrapped up in rapturous fashion, as ‘Pickup’ was played last.
