Diawara, a product of the Troyes academy, made his senior team debut in November 2024. Last season, he featured in 14 matches for them in France's second tier. The club secured promotion to Ligue 1, finishing atop the table with a five-point lead over Le Mans.

"Diawara, a left-footed central defender, combines technical quality, physical prowess, and character. These attributes make him a highly promising talent who has already proven himself at a professional level in France and is ready to continue his development in the 'rossoneri' colours," Milan stated, as quoted by AP.

This marks the third summer signing for the team under Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, who took over from Massimiliano Allegri in mid-June. AC Milan previously secured striker Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for a club-record 74 million euros and centre-back Mario Gila from Lazio Rome.
