Winning the award for his 1st performance ever, the actor thanked his co-star Idris Elba, director of the film, Cary Fukunaga, and costume designers while receiving his award.

Earlier in the night, Elba brought the young actor up with him to share his best supporting male actor win. "I couldn't have done it without you," Elba said to Attah.
Attah made his acting debut in the film as Agu, a young boy from an unnamed African country who saw his family slaughtered amid a sudden outbreak of violence, and finds himself orphaned.
