Singer working on new music, shares creative process of making music
2Baba speaks to Pulse on the creative process he involves in making those hit songs that have stuck with fans, among other gist.
“It just happens, I actually don’t have any process, depending on my mood, when it comes i just zone in. Sometimes the beat comes first, it inspires me and I start writing something. Sometimes I have the ideas and I just write them down and organize them into sounds” he says.
"There’s always pressure that comes with that, It makes you know you are really appreciated or that you have to break your own record or keep your game alive but I like to take things easy."
“Worrying is more of a problem than a problem itself,” he adds.
Asked what country he would say is most welcoming to him, given his coverage of quite a number of African countries, He mentions Ghana as that country.
2Baba talks about what giving to charity means to him, says it is about giving back and thinks it’s very important to engage people on the idea that no matter your level, it’s good to spread some good your own little way.
The legend not failing to bear his mind on the status of the country and the crop of leaders presently ruling the affairs of Nigeria, says it beats his imagination,it’s becoming too shameful, and people should be held accountable for their actions, and start behaving as expected, not only in Nigeria but all over the world.
On if he would be signing any act to his Hypertek digital, 2Baba says the label is on recess for now and will be back bigger and better. He acknowledges the fact that talent does abound in every nooks and cranny of the streets.
2baba also was kind to share with everyone the artists he is currently feeling in the industry.
He adds that he respects these artists, some for their work ethic, some not necessarily for their music but for their personality while some actually is for the awesomeness of their music.
These artists he mentioned include Falz, Wande Coal citing Iskaba particularly as his favorite tune from the ‘Black Diamond’ crooner. Other artists in his favorite circle right now include Simi, Adekunle Gold, Niniola and Tiwa Savage.
On what he thinks would be the defining sound of 2017 in Nigeria, 2Baba believes Afrobeat is that one sound.
2Baba, asked which legend, passed away, who he would have loved to collaborate with Bob Marley does it for him musically, summing him up as that rounded artist that can zone into political, romantic or any other class of songs.
The 'African queen' crooner then sings a chorus of his favourite Bob Marley song ever.
