With the Round of 16 matchups now set and only the top 16 teams remaining, Opta released its updated probabilities this Saturday for each team to advance through the 2026 World Cup stages, as well as their chances of lifting the trophy.
Following the latest update, the supercomputer's predictions show some shifts, particularly concerning the ultimate winner. France, already the favorite, has significantly increased its lead at the top, while Portugal's percentage has remained stable.
According to Opta's algorithm, the Portuguese national team has only a 37.8% chance of eliminating Spain in their Round of 16 clash scheduled for Monday. Consequently, their probability of reaching the final is considerably low, standing at just over 10%.
