Here are some tips on products to help you climb up the ‘make-up social ladder’

• Foundation: is used to even out the skin tone, it differs from white talc powder and brown powder. Foundation comes in crème and liquid form. Pick foundation that blends with your skin tone and type of skin( either oily, normal or combination). Foundation is applied with a soft puff or a face brush.

• White talc powder: This everyone is familiar with; it is used after the application of foundation to help the powder set. It can also be used in place of brown powder.

• Concealer: It’s an arsenal that totally transforms your whole face; it helps to cover up anything from eye bags to scars.

• Eye liner: This comes in various colours and forms - pencil or liquid. The most used is the black kohl liner or kajal. It is used to define the eyes. It can be applied to just the top lash line, the lower lash line or both. Eye liner helps to create a dramatic look in the nick of time.

• Mascara: Mascara ‘wakes’ up the face. It’s applied to the eye lashes to add volume to it, darken it, curl and lengthen it. After application, the eyes immediately look brighter.

• Make-up brushes: Make up brushes make the application of makeup easier, neater and more precise. There are powder brushes, lip brushes etc

• Lip stick: This is usually a semi-dry product used on the lips to add colour. They are available in various shades. Lipstick and lip stains usually stay for a much longer time on the lips than gloss.

• Lip gloss: The aim is to give the lips a glossy and moist appearance. Lip gloss moisturizes the lips and is appropriate for dry weather to prevent the lips from cracking. Gloss comes in clear or coloured variants.
