Tech company is expanding beyond Lagos to Abuja, Port Harcourt

Reports showed up yesterday revealing that Uber is considering an expansion drive outside Lagos - Abuja and Port Harcourt are the first cities Uber is said to be considering.

Since the world's most valuable startup launched in Nigeria in mid-2014, the company has kept its services within Lagos State. However, it seems all of that is about to change - they have also changed their Twitter handle from @Uber_Lagos to @UberNigeria.

TechCabal reports that the company is looking for partners in Abuja, Port Harcourt, and anywhere else where there is a market large enough to be served.

Like the TechCabal report says, Uber has since become the favored transport option for middle-class millenials like me. Most of you reading this article have probably used Uber at least once.

I am keen to see how the markets in Abuja and Port Harcourt receive the Uber gospel, especially when you consider the fact that a city like Abuja, for example, does not have the same commuter problems which made Uber so attractive to Lagosians in the first place.
