The Jamaican government's website was hacked by supporters of the Islamic State (IS) group on Monday night, local media reported.
Sources who visited the website of Jamaica Information Service (JIS) could only find "Down For Maintenance" on it.
But earlier, visitors were greeted with an IS propaganda message left by hackers who claimed themselves as `Team System Dz,’ Jamaican media reported on Tuesday.
The JIS is a government agency mandated to disseminate information that would enhance public awareness and increase knowledge of government’s policies and programmes.
The latest incident was not the first case in the Caribbean region.
In May IS supporters hacked the official website of St. Vincent and Grenadines and changed the front page into a picture of a man firing a machine gun from the back of a pick-up van.
In that particular case, the hackers called themselves `Moroccan Wolf -- Islamic State'.
