Electricity distributors in Nigeria have said that pipeline vandals are to blame for the poor power supply in the country.

“Each time they vandalize gas pipeline in Niger Delta, or anywhere, they are denying the gas station the essential gas which is used to generate electricity. So shortage of gas leads to low generation of electricity,” the Executive Director of the Association, Sunday Oduntan said.

“Low generation and poor transmission facility leads to low distribution. Therefore, DISCOs are not to blame for poor power supply in Nigeria. There is a place in Abeokuta called Alamala barracks, some soldiers led by a major from Alamala barracks went to a place called Rounder to beat one of our individual staff and we have the pictures of this incident.

“Up till today, nothing has been done by the military authority. We call on the Federal government, particularly President Buhari who is a retired general, to call his boys to order. We cannot continue to run a country where the military will be beating our boys when we are only asking them to pay their bills,” he added.
