FG proposes N120, labour unions push for complete reversal

The FG held a meeting with the labour unions on Monday in a bid to prevent a planned strike over the fuel price increase.

The FG held a meeting with the labour unions on Monday in a bid to prevent a planned strike over the fuel price increase.

The labour leaders were however said to have insisted on a total reversal to the initial fuel price of N86.

“That was why the meeting ended in deadlock. FG proposed N120 per litre but the NLC insisted on total reversal to the old price, which is N86 per litre. They were not ready to accept the outrageous proposal,” a source told Daily Post.

“The outcome of the meeting with the Joe Ajaero-led group would determine the next line of action,” the source added.

The fuel price was increased to N145 after the removal of the subsidy on petrol by the government.

Meanwhile, the National Industrial Court has restrained the NLC from going on strike on Wednesday, May 18 as initially planned.
