President attends Independence Day celebrations in Abuja [PHOTOS]

Celebrations for Nigeria’s 55 Independence anniversary have begun in Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari is in attendance at the ceremony which is taking place at the Presidential Villa.

Buhari earlier gave a speech to commemorate the event in which he urged Nigerians to celebrate the nation regardless of the current circumstances.

Meanwhile, the president approved only N70 million for this year's celebrations due to the economic situation in the country.
