Internet.org, which is available on ground in Ghana, Zambia, Kenya and Tanzania, is ready to commence operations in Nigeria, according to Facebook’s Head of Public Policy in Africa, EbeleOkobi.

Okobi made this known on wednesday during a panel session at the Mobile West Africa 2015 event currently ongoing in Lagos.

Internet.org was launched in 2013 and strives to provide users with zero Internet access in developing countries with select web content.

The service is currently spearheading an intense net neutrality debate in India where local interests are saying Internet.org is just a Facebook proxy aimed at India’s poor.

Such discussions as to the services true intentions are currently absent in Nigeria and other African countries, but it’s possible that thoughts could begin to arise when the service finally commences operations in the country.
