Kemi Adetiba is our Woman Crush this Wednesday!

Whatever Kemi Adetiba touches turns to gold and that is just one of the reasons she is our WCW today.

Kemi Adetiba is music video director, filmmaker and television director whose works have been on Channel O, MTV Base, Soundcity TV, BET and Netflix.

Adetiba began her journey in the spotlight as a child when she starred in two TV commercials for OMO detergent. She started a professional career in radio as a presenter for Rhythm 93.7 FM and the voice behind Soul’d Out and Sunday at the Seaside.

She slowly transitioned from radio to television when she hosted hit shows on MNet — Studio 53, Temptation Nigeria — on Soundcity — Lifestyle, Celebrity Profiles, Chat Room — and on the dance reality show, Maltina Dance All for three years.

In 2007, Adetiba pursued her passion to the New York Film Academy where she learnt how to be a boss behind the cameras also. Shortly after its release, her short film ‘Across a Bloodied Ocean’ was screened at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles and the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. That same year, her production company, K-Alpha, produced for DVD The 2009 ThisDay Music Festival featuring headline act R.Kelly.

She has received several awards for the numerous music videos and films she has directed.

She directed The Wedding Party, which was released worldwide in December 2016 after premiering on 8 September 2016 at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada. It became the Highest Grossing Nigerian Film ever but was later unseated by sequel Wedding Party 2.

In October 2018, her self-produced-and-directed film, King of Boys, shattered Nigerian box office history within two weeks of hitting the screens — the biggest opening week for a non-comedy Nollywood film, the second highest opening week of a Nollywood film in 2018 and the Second highest opening by a female director.

Hers is a name that will go down in the history books. That is why she is our #WCW today!
