Iceland's biggest attraction looks epic!

The Blue Lagoon is the largest geothermal spa in the world.

Saying the Blue Lagoon is beautiful would be saying the least. The strange, bright blue-colored water colored by a nearby geothermal plant, surrounded by black volcanic rocks, is one of the Earth's wonder to feast one's eyes on. In addition to being a scenic spectacle, the Blue Lagoon is also an ultra-relaxing spa, with added features like facials and in-water massages.

The warm waters are rich in silica, sulfur and other minerals, and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is reputed to help some people suffering from skin diseases such as psoriasis — this is debatable. The water temperature in the bathing and swimming area of the lagoon averages 37–39 °C and is run off watter gotten from the nearby plant, renewed every two days. It is an amazing way to soak after a tiring flight and does wonders for muscle relaxation!

The Blue Lagoon is located about 30 miles away from Reykjavik, capital city of Iceland, and it typically takes about an hour to drive there. There are hotels around the lagoon but it is more advisable to do a day trip to the location. The great thing about the Blue Lagoon is that it is open every day of the year, including holidays! The hours vary slightly depending on the season — check the official Blue Lagoon website.

If you're visiting Iceland and interested in visiting the site, book a tour ahead. The tours are only available in groups of 11, but most hotels can hook you up with people that are also interested in going. Fun fact, Iceland is the world's best country for women!
