A 41-year-old man, Meshack Ekpenyong, would not know what hit him on the night of July 25, 2015, when he was slaughtered by suspected cultists in the Bariga area of Lagos State.
Ekpenyong, who hailed from Akwa Ibom State, had gone to the Shomolu area of the state with his wife, Kubirat, to visit with her mother from his Ibafo, Ogun State residence, but decided to go and hang out with some friends in Bariga, only for his wife to get a call late that night, to come carry the corpse of her husband.
His wife who has been inconsolable sine the sad incident, narrated how the father of her only child met his untimely death:
“At about 8 pm on July 25, 2015, I received a call from a man who identified himself as Lekan Olusho, that my husband has been killed and that I should go and pick his corpse.
That was simply how I received the news of the death of my husband. I don’t know anybody called Lekan Olusho.
I don’t even know the particular house in Ago-Owu area (Bariga) where he was staying with his friend. My husband worked with a private security company in Ogun state.
It was Lekan and his gang of cultists that murdered him. All I want is justice. Those involved in the murder of my husband should not go free.”
It was gathered that the throat of the victim was slit open by cultists who invaded the Ago-Owu street in Bariga area where he was staying with a friend.
The police say some suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Ekpeyong.
