FGC, Kaduna, female student murders own baby

A student of the Federal Government Girls' College in Kaduna has been arrested for allegedly murdering her own baby.

It was gathered that Umar had hidden her pregnancy from all and when she was due, she delivered the child on her own, killed it and attempted to throw the baby over the school fence, but the corpse got caught on the fence by the female hostel where it was discovered.

Confirming the sordid incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Zubairu Abubakar said Umar has been arrested in connection with the crime.

Abubakar added that the school's Vice Principal reported the matter to the police.

"At about 1.15pm, the Vice Principal of FGC, Malali,, reported at the station that ‎the corpse of a new born baby suspected to have been delivered by a student, wrapped in a white cloth was thrown over the school fence.

The corpse of the baby was left dangling on the school fence until the police came and removed it. After taking picture of the scene, it has been deposited at the mortuary.

The police has commenced investigations into the matter," DSP Abubakar said.
