80-yr-old woman arrested for gun running in Edo
An 80-year-old woman whose source of livelihood is selling ammunitions to criminals have been arrested in Edo.
The octogenarian, was arrested after the police got a tip that she supplied bullets to armed robbers and during a search, some live cartridges were recovered from her.
Arrested alongside the old woman was her 48-year-old accomplice, Stella Omobude, who is said to be the one who connected her with the buyers.
The State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, while parading the suspects, said Omobude was nabbed during a raid at the Evbueren village, along Benin/Auchi road, based on credible information gathered by the operatives and tactical units of the command and her confession led to the arrest of Madam Izeomwen at Ekae village, Benin City, with 68 live cartridges recovered from her.
The frail looking octogenarian confessed that she sold each cartridge to her customers at the rate of N250.
“I sell to them at N250, but I don’t know what they do with it. That is what I do for a living.”
