Alien creature spotted after the Japanese tsunami

A strange creature that washed up in the aftermath of the Japanese tsunami has baffled online viewers who claim they have no idea what it is.

Taken by a survivor of the devastating natural disaster, the picture shows a huge white whale-like creature washed up among debris left behind after the flood.

The zoomed-in footage shows the bizarre animal from several different angles, but it is difficult to tell exactly what is.

According to Mirror UK, some viewers are suggesting the creature is just a whale, or a squid, although others are convinced it is a species that has never been discovered before.

More than 15,000 people were killed in the 9.0-magnitude earthquake which occurred on March 11, devastating many of Japan's coastal towns as well asunleashing the worst nuclear crisis in a quarter of a century.

A further 340,000 people were displaced after the disaster, with a shortage of food, water and shelter causing problems for survivors across the country.
