Policeman in court for raping minor in Kano

A police officer who is supposed to protect the lives of citizens is now a lawbreaker after he was arrested for raping a minor.

A police corporal, an orderly to the Chairman of Shanono local government area of Kano State, has been dragged to court for conspiring with two of his friends to rape a minor in the town, and boasting that no one can touch him because he works with a powerful man.

A statement from the Kano State Police Command reveal that the suspect and his friends have been charged to court after the outcome of internal investigation showed that he was culpable.

The statement reads:

"A police corporal has been arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCID), for investigation over the complaint that he and two others gang-raped a girl.

It is possible that the girl was threatened; you know orderlies attached to VIPs are usually armed.

The police corporal and two other suspects have been detained for raping a girl in Shanono local government area. The policeman is the orderly to the local government chairman."
