Mother of 7 arrested for stealing baby

A mother of seven has been nabbed for stealing a new born baby.

Baby thief, Adebola Titilayo

A staff nurse who runs a private hospital at Arogun Village, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Titilayo Adebola, has been arrested by men of the state Police Command, for allegedly stealing a baby.

It was learnt that Adebola, a mother of seven, allegedly took away the baby from the mother after delivery, telling the woman who was yet to recover from the pangs of childbirth, that the baby was still born, only for her to keep the baby for herself.

But after some days, the mother got information that the baby did not die but was with the nurse who was passing it off as her child even when no one noticed when she was pregnant.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest of the nurse, adding that neighbours of the nurse and the people in the community, who suddenly saw her with a baby without any pregnancy, became suspicious of her.

He said:

“The nurse who took the delivery of the baby in the hospital on June 13, 2015, had   deceived the mother that she had a stillbirth.

She was arrested when the mother got reliable information about the baby and immediately informed the police.

The residents of the community also noticed that the suspect, who was never pregnant, suddenly started nursing a baby that she could not breast feed. They informed the mother who later reported the case to the police in Ewekoro on August 7, 2015.

In the course of police investigation, it was revealed that the suspect, a mother of seven, had issues with her initial marriage and got married to another rich man, who she wanted to have a baby for.
