24-yr-old lady in the dock for stealing N.5m from helper

A cleaner who was given assistance by a man ended up stealing from the same helper.

Court of justice

Faith Ofeimu, a 24-year-old cleaner, has once again showed why people refuse to render assistance to others in need, by stealing the sum of N532,800, and mobile handsets from a businessman who offered her a lift.

According to Koti Aondohemba, the prosecutor who charged her before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos, the accused committed the offence on April 24, at 11:30 pm.

Aondohemba told the court that the victim, Benson Bright, had offered the lady a lift on the night of the incident and since it was late for her to find her way home, he decided to offer her a place to sleep in his residence at 4, Tokunbo Street, Lagos Island.

But Bright was given a jolt when Ofeimu repaid him with evil by stealing the items from him.

When the two-count charges were read to her, Ofeimu pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate Salama Matepo, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000, while the case was adjourned till June 24.
