Court arraigns Chinese man for illegal wood exportation

The suspects reportedly stole sixteen cows belonging to Yusuf Abdullahi.

A magistrate's court judge granted the offender bail in the sum of N10 million and two sureties who will also pay the same amount, pending the resumption of the case.

Justice Rabiu Shagari, of the Federal High Court in Lagos, has granted bail in the sum of N10m, to a Chinese man identified as Zhu Jinxin, who was arrested for illegal importation of wood to his home country, China.

Punch reports that the Chinese man, who lives at Akura Estate, off Adeniyi Jones Street in Ikeja, Lagos, is expected to face a charge of “unlawful exportation of wood”.

Mr. Ajakaye Iyiola, who is the persecutor in the case, said Zhu Jinxin committed the offence on November 16, 2015, at the Tin-Can Port, Lagos.

It goes against Section 64(1)(b) of the Customs and Excise Management Act, Cap C45, Law of the Federation, 2004.
