Timi Dakolo [Episode 15]

My Africa Podcast, partnering exclusively with Pulse brings you another compelling interview; this time Timi Dakolo shares his passage into music.

Rewind to 2007, Timi Dakolo won the first season of Idols West Africa. Now fast forward to 2015, Dakolo is one of the most admired singers in Nigeria.

After his friend brought a Sony Walkman with a Michael Bolton tape to school, his musical epiphany began. After purchasing Craig David’s “Born to Do It” and listening to it repeatedly, he decided to get into music.

During his interview on My Africa podcast, the crooner reveals he’s been studying for a masters in song writing at Berklee College of Music. He explained that since he’s going to be in this industry for a long time, “the ordinary just wouldn’t do”, hence his continued quest for knowledge.

Since his Idols reign, Dakolo has released an album “Beautiful Noise” and several other singles. His single ‘Great nation’ has been dubbed the second national anthem.
