Actress says IbomFest Festival will unveil Akwa Ibom's wealth

Ini Edo says the maiden edition of IbomFest Heritage Festival will unveil Akwa Ibom's immense wealth in tourism.

The actress and Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom Governor on Tourism, made this known while unveiling Peekaboo Global Consulting Limited as the media agency for the IbomFest Heritage Festival.

The event, which is billed to hold between December 15, 2016 and 17, 2016 in Akwa Ibom State, is geared at diverting investment and tourism traffic to Akwa Ibom State through the provision of artistic, cultural and tourism platforms.

Ini Edo, who is also the Project Manager for the Festival, explained that IbomFest would also showcase the historic sites, sculptural landscapes, topography, cuisines, arts and crafts that abound in the state.

The actress further explained that the showcase would also attract foreign direct investment to the state as well as create an opportunity for stakeholders in the tourism industry to showcase their potentials.

Speaking at the formal signing of the project, Darlington Abuda, the lead consultant of PGC, and Apeh Harrison Iwodi, the IbomFest Project Consultant stated that the IbomFest Heritage festival which has as its theme “Our Culture Beyond Borders” would simultaneously showcase the tourism potentials of the state to visitors while giving residents of the state a renewed appreciation of their state.

Abuda went on to express his agency’s determination to support the Udom Emmanuel led administration strategy to provide a robust programme that would fast-track the development of the tourism industry in the state for wealth creation, employment generation, self-actualization and sustainability.

On his part, Apeh Harrison Iwodi, the Project Consultant, expressed his optimism that the ingenuity embedded in the concept of the festival would serve as a beacon to other states in their desire to diversify the sources of internally generated revenue.
