In the all-Indian Premier League final, the Kolkata Knight Riders posted what looked to be a very competitive 180-6.

They were slowed late by the excellent left-arm spin of Pawan Negi (5-22 off four overs), though, keeping Chennai's target under 200.

And Raina " assisted by Brendon McCullum (39) and MS Dhoni (23 not out) " hit eight sixes and six fours as Chennai won the tournament for a second time.

"I am so happy we delivered in a crucial situation," Raina said afterwards.

"Pawan Negi bowled well and they were 20 runs short. But I and 'Baz' [Brendon McCullum] had a good partnership and finished off.

"I was looking to be positive in the first six overs [with the bat].

"I knew if I get to a fifty, I have to make sure to stay till the last over, because if one wicket fell, the pressure would have come to the next batsman."

Chennai also won the tournament in 2010.

Kolkata were without star spinner Sunil Narine for the final after he was cited for an illegal bowling action.
