Without further delay, here are five reasons why Paulo Coelho is awesome.

He travels a whole lot: Tourist sites like Saint-James Costapella, South America, North Africa, Mexico, and Europe have been ticked on his must-see list. His “9 travelling tips” is hot on various travel blogs.

Award winning and internationally acclaimed:  His work has sold over 160 million copies and has also been translated into 80 languages. He holds the Guinness world record for the most translated book by one living author.

Quite the talker: He was a target for bullies back in elementary school but he triumphed by telling fables and stories to his peers.

More than a writer:  Few years before he began his journey as a writer, he lived as a hippy and he was quoted to have had “a lot of fun” at the time. He has also previously worked as a director, theatre actor, songwriter and journalist.

He is just totally awesome: He wrote his most famous work The Alchemist in no kidding, two weeks. His hobbies include Kyudo - a meditative archery, reading, walking, football and he likes computers too. It therefore wasn’t a surprise when he was ranked the second most influential celebrity on Twitter in 2010 by Forbes and the writer with the highest number of followers on social media.

Magic man:  Paulo is an official magician or ‘Magus’ as he has formally completed the required mysterious rites and also inducted in to the ancient order “Regnus Agnus Mundi”.
