Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is under fire following his scathing verbal attack on former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili.

The backlash from Timi Frank, the former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretaryhas reignited discussions about Wike’s political alliances and alleged history of betrayal.

During a thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt on Sunday, December 29, Wike criticised Odili for purportedly siding with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Referring to Odili as an “ingrate” and “rent seeker,” Wike’s comments have drawn sharp rebukes.

“Wike’s condemnable outburst against Odili shows his tendency to betray his benefactors and friends,” Frank said, describing the minister’s behaviour as “irredeemably unpredictable.”

Frank pointed to Wike’s past actions as evidence of a pattern of disloyalty.

“He betrayed ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience after they appointed him minister of education and supported his gubernatorial bid. Similarly, he turned against former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, despite benefiting from his political patronage,” Frank alleged.

The former APC official also accused Wike of undermining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 elections.

“Wike formed an unholy alliance against the PDP, ensuring their presidential loss. He’s now orchestrating crises in Rivers State to weaken the party ahead of 2027,” Frank stated.

Frank warned President Bola Tinubu to tread cautiously, suggesting that Wike’s recent efforts to complete projects in the FCT were part of a strategy to position himself as a presidential contender.

“All his braggadocio is an arsenal for 2027, portraying himself as a better option than Tinubu,” Frank added.

Calling Wike a “Brutus in Julius Caesar,” Frank concluded, “For Wike, loyalty is anathema. Tinubu must beware to avoid becoming his next victim.”
