LAUTECH reduces proposed tuition, asks students to resume
Following students protests, the management of Ladoke Akintola University has slashed the proposed tuition fees for the indigenes and non-indigenes of Oyo and Osun states.
The Head, Public and Alumni Relations Unit of the school, Olalekan Fadeyi in a statement issued on Saturday, October 27, 2018, said the council, headed by Prof Dapo Afolabi, has directed that the proposed tuition fees be reduced.
The statement reads:
The statement read, “The management has also announced that students (should) resume in the school on October 29, 2018.
“The council and management of the university appreciate the concern of stakeholders over its present situation, but plead with well-wishers to come to the realisation that cost of running qualitative and functional technical institutions like ours are becoming unbearably impossible if N65,000 and N72,000 are maintained as tuition.
“While Internally Generated Revenue from students’ fees would only remain supplementary, arrangements have been concluded to enlist parents and students into the management of University fund in a manner that entrench transparency and accountability.”
