Kamaru Usman to relinquish BMF belt for UFC 272 battle between Masvidal and Covington
Nigerian-American professional mixed martial artist, former freestyle wrestler Kamarudeen "Kamaru" Usman has given his thoughts about the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 272 welterweight battle between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal.
Usman is the reigning UFC welterweight champion and has defeated Masvidal and Covington twice each.
He took to his official Twitter account to reveal that the winner of the fight between Masvidal and Covington will get the Baddest Motherfucker belt.
The belt was given to Masvidal after he defeated Nate Diaz at UFC 244. Usman became the BMF champion after he defeated Masvidal at the UFC 251.
The 34-year-old Usman is now ready to let go of the belt for the winner.
He made this known in a message on Twitter that said, "I will relinquish the BMF Belt just for this fight #UFC272."
In an interview on ESPN, Usman gave his prediction for a tough fight between two MMA stars he has already defeated.
He said, "My prediction is Jorge Masvidal could, in an exchange, land something that potentially gets Covington out of there.
"Or Colby Covington can go there, get a hold of him, drag him down, make him stand up, drag him down, exchange with him, get a hold of him, drag him down and just slowly wear on him and wear on him and wear on him until he is able to squeak out that unanimous decision."
The fight between Masvidal and Covington is scheduled to take place in the early hours of Sunday, March 6, 2022
